In 1972 Fred Shawley Sr. and wife Sally purchased a local bottle gas company in Hagerstown, Maryland that had a customer base of about 200 customers. Through years of hard work, dedication, and exceptional customer service Fred, Sally, and their children built Shawley’s into the leading supplier of propane and related services in Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Virginia.

The company’s propane sales and service became so successful that in 1978 the Shawley family expanded its products and service to include coal, oil, hardware and appliances. The care and commitment of subsequent family generations has continued the company’s growth.

Today, Shawley’s is celebrating more than 35 years as the same dependable, friendly business that the Shawley family envisioned in 1972. Though the company has seen extraordinary growth over the past three decades, Shawley’s remains family owned and operated, and has become the area’s proven leader in energy sales and services. Shawley’s today proudly serves over 10,000 homes in the Quad State area with their services.
